my story

With a 10+ year background as an elite international competitor in Tae Kwon Do, Chelsey’s transition into dancing was rapid and seamless. She began her dance training in ballroom in 2011, several years later honing in on salsa and bachata through rigorously training throughout the United States with a variety of internationally renowned coaches.

She founded Meraki Dance Company in 2017 and has since led the Louisville community in providing high quality instruction, hosting unique, special events and building kind, inclusive community.

Proficient in leading and following, Chelsey is passionate about developing strong technical dance foundations and high body awareness, alongside spreading love, light and joy through dancing.

Chelsey is owner and director of Meraki Dance Company- a nationally recognized Salsa/Bachata dance school. Meraki is the largest Latin dance academy in the region and has a myriad of offerings for individuals of all levels. She has over 20 years teaching experience and has taught and performed throughout North America as a guest instructor at dance festivals.

She is also founder and co-organizer of Salsa on the Belle - a 500 person Latin dance cruise on the 100 year old historic steamboat- the Belle of Louisville. Since its inception, this event has been the largest salsa event in Louisville, Kentucky.
